Facial autologous fat injection

With aging skin loses elasticity and becomes
flaccid, which leads to formation of wrinkles. Decreasing facial fatty tissue
further fosters this process. Even significant weight loss will lead to
unwanted loss of fatty tissue in the face, which can lead to a shrunken face.
The missing volume can be reconstituted by means of autologous fat
transfer/injection. To this end, we first perform a liposuction (suctioning of
fatty tissue) in the abdominal, hip, and/or upper thigh region. The harvested
fat is subsequently re-injected into the facial areas to be filled.
It is possible that over time, the body will metabolize a portion of this
volume. We may therefore recommend a renewed autologous fat injection. This
operation is mostly performed under general anesthesia in the setting of a day
clinic.
