Gender Dysphoria

It happens not infrequently that individuals, who by medical standards are healthy and have no clinically significant psychic disturbances, report a discrepancy between anatomic realities and gender identity perception. These individuals are called described as transgender. Medically they suffer from gender dysphoria.

We offer all current operative gender reassignment procedures. In the interest of comprehensive and interdisciplinary therapy, we work closely with other clinics:

  • Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Clinic
  • Reproductive Endocrinology
  • Dermatology
  • ENT and Facial Surgery Clinic

Thus, the treatment and care of these patients takes place in collaboration with expert specialists. In performing gender reassignment interventions, we follow applicable laws and current treatment guidelines (PDF).

Normally, referrals take place in house through the Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Clinic. Surgery – especially of the genitalia – is often the last stage in the treatment process of gender dysphoria.
